INFLUENCING FACTORS OF RELAPSE IN CLASS III TREATMENT

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to predict the prognosis of Class III malocclusion treatment and to examine which factors were related to the relapse. Fifty treated cases were devided into stable and relapse group by stability of treatment results.
Various measurements in pre-treatment, post-treatment and retention lateral cephalograms were evaluated and compared between stable and relapse group by t-test and the relationship of relapse to skeletodental factors was evaluated by correlation analysis.

The results were as follows

1. Bjork sum and lower gonial angle were larger in pre-treatment or post-treatment of relapse group than in stable group, so relapse group was found to have vertical tendency, and SNA and SNB angle were smaller in relapse group than stable group. -
2. Vertical facial pattern in relapse group was increased by treatment than in stable group and SNA angle was increased and SNB angle was decreased in stable group by treatment.
3. In correlation analysis, relapse showed significant correlations with anteroposterior occlusal relationship in pre-treatment phase and inclination of occlusal plane in post-treatment phase
